Basket Arms Exit

A slick way to exit basket arms, but it must be set up correctly. The turn can be fast and tricky for the follow so leaders need to pay extra attention to weight shifts before asking the follow to turn quickly.

Hip Trip Lock Up

This is a low aerial for partners only. It's not excessively dangerous, but many a folks have crashed and burned on this seemingly easy aerial. Depending on your weight differential, choose the role of 'base' or 'flyer' to effectively get this move to work. We then challenge you to use it sparingly and to hit the musical break when you do.

Loopdeloo

Always surprising and oddly functional. This move can be done pathetically or spectacularly. When done poorly, it's because the partners aren't working together. To achieve the magic, everyone needs to do their job correctly. So focus on the technique and then film yourselves to know if you've really achieved the 'look' of the move.

Rhythm Circle Swing Out

A high energy lindy classic. We don't do this in every dance, but during the right song it feels and looks amazing. It combines circular and linear momentum and conjures up shapes and feelings of early southern California lindy hop.

These are super fun. Once you've mastered each variation you can mix and match them fluidly. In modern times Swing Outs are usually taught as a 360 degree rotation, but traditionally a Swing Out could be underrotated or over rotated depending on the tempo, space on the dance flloor or dynamics with your partner. If you plan to perform or compete, mastering these techniques can be super helpful.

Shoot the Duck

The concept and name comes from Kevin's childhood roller skating days. It's a teamwork move that is fun when executed correctly and hilarious when it crashes and burns. It's all about the commitment.

Tornado Swing Outs

The traveling madness of tornado swing outs brings all the crazy fun of Lindy Hop to the social, competitive and performance floor. Definitely work on your visuals to make this move more spectacular. Nobody likes weak tornado swing outs, so give the name it's due justice and channel your inner TORNADO!

Flea Hop

This might possibly be the move that Andy Reid is best known for. Never a social dance goes by that Andy doesn't execute a superb and musically inspired Flea Hop. One part rhythmic, two parts bouncy, all parts awesome.

The Swing Out

The Swing Out is the most important Lindy Hop move you will ever learn, and something even the most seasoned professionals continue to refine and experiment with. A good Swing Out feels delicious, dynamic and full of possibility. This is one of those lessons that even if you think you have got it mastered, watch it two or three more times before moving on.
